OUR MISSION

Solar Storm was initially developed for general contractors. Our goal is to simplify the process of installing solar panels for your projects. We handle all the permitting with the City, PUD, L&I, and electrical and structural engineering. A typical system can range from $15,000 to $20,000, depending on upgrades and how many points you need. keep in mind that one of our main missions is to provide a quality system. We do not want callbacks within the life of the system. A 30% federal rebate is available, which means a $20,000 system would only cost the homeowner $14,000.

In our opinion, solar is clearly the most cost-effective option for obtaining up to 4.5 out of the 8 energy credits required for the average home. Alternatively, the homeowner could easily spend upwards of $40,000 to achieve the same result.

Recommended Route to Obtain 8-9 Energy Credits

  • Table 6.1 Renewable Electric Energy Option (Solar) — 4.5 credits

  • Table 5.6 Tier 3 NEEA’s advanced electric water heat pump (Hot water tank). —2 credits

  • Table 1.2 —1.0 credit

  • Table 7.1 —0.5 credit (Note: We reached out to the building department, and they informed us that they do not currently require ductless equipment, but this requirement may change in the future.)

  • Total 8 credits

  • Table 3.6 — 1.0 credit (if building is over 5000sq ft)

  • Table 2.1, 2.3 —1.0 to 1.5 credits

FAQs

How big of a system will I need to get 4.5 credits?

-To get 4.5 credits, the total amount of kWh is 5,400, and the average panel is 350-525 watts, so you need 8 to 12 panels. This number could change depending on your location

Ground mount systems VS roof mount systems

- As far as expense, ground-mounted systems are practically the same price (if you exclude the footing)

- I recommend ground-mounted systems because they are easy to install and maintain. They also have a 100% guarantee that your house won't leak in the future.
